The open weave whips air through the soap instead of swallowing it. You'll use noticeably less body wash and get more lather out of it — the net gives it back rather than holding it hostage in a foam core.

Drop the net in very hot water for five to ten minutes before its first shower. This sanitises it, softens the weave and settles the dye. Skip it and the net feels stiffer than it should — the single most common first-use complaint, and entirely preventable.
The net needs water and soap to glide. Wet it through, add a coin of body wash, work it to a lather in your hands, then take it to skin. Dry mesh on dry skin is harsh; wet mesh on wet skin is smooth.

Out of the pack it feels stiff — that's new nylon, and it's normal. Soak it in hot water before first use and it softens considerably. After that you control the intensity: pulled tight it exfoliates hard, held loose it glides. Start gentle on sensitive areas, ease off on freshly shaved or broken skin, and give your body a week to adjust before going daily.
Cared for properly, up to two years. There's no foam to collapse and no glue to fail — just knotted nylon. Rinse it after each shower, wring, hang, and machine wash it every month or two. Compare that to a plastic pouf you're told to replace every three to four weeks.
Almost every reported case of bleeding traces back to skipping the pre-soak. Five to ten minutes in hot water before the first shower releases loose surface dye and sets the rest. Do it once and it's a non-issue for the life of the net.

Rinse all soap out, wring, hang. The open knots dry in minutes, so there's no damp core for bacteria to settle in. Every one to three months, hand wash in hot water with a mild detergent or machine wash it in a laundry bag. Air dry — don't tumble.
